News to me - very interesting (i am a fan of his books Running in the Family & Anil's Ghost, & he is most widely known for writing The English Patient) - the films are available on DVD from Mongrel Media . Since Haiti is in the news a lot these days & since I am also hearing a lot about the new doc about Basquiat , I wondered if Basquiat's parents (or he himself) were from Haiti. Looks like his dad was (or is, not sure if he is still alive), according to Wikipedia .
