Janus, Biograph, Outer Circle, Visions: Places of former DC art film glory

Cool DC movie theaters that are no longer there. Nice to think back on them though, as some people in the comments section of the following pages have done:

i was in their projector room once

The Janus
saw several movies there, saw Hi Fidelity in their theater with the "column"

Outer Circle (didn't find a page i can link to)
where i saw Amelie about 5 times when it first came out

where i screened my film 17 DC Poets

When I lived in DC I used to love going to the Biograph .. I'm so sorry to hear it has closed, but unfortunately I can't say I'm surprised

Hey Reel Fanatic,

The Biograph closed over 10 years ago I think.

AFI Silver, Avalon & the Landmark Theaters (E St & Bethesda Row) are mostly the places for art films in DC these days.

The best of the former bunch was Visions. Hopefully another Visions will come along.

The Meyerowitz Stories is very good

Note - I saw the movie before the Dustin Hoffman sex assault allegations story broke.  Not sure what kind of an experience I would have had watching the movie had I knew about the allegations.

Great movie, well written, well acted.  An interesting NYC experience.
