Why the South Park Movie Speaks to Today

 

Friendship (2025) review - "Weird, dark movie. But funny throughout. Not a rich cinematic experience."

It's like a funny web short. There's no hugging, no learning for the main character in this movie. They took a secondary character (from regular movies) and made that character the main character. Weird, dark movie. But funny throughout. Not a rich cinematic experience. Perhaps intentionally made to look "bad"/amateur production sensibilities - like a no-budget web short. Pretty sure the movie had a budget - is a 2025 A24 release, and we have great tech now for movies. Paul Rudd does well. Funny movie but script, cinematography, editing, direction not great. It's like a Kevin Smith movie - not as funny or well developed a script. It's like a Joe Swanberg movie or a Joel Haver movie - but funny. It is an alternative to Marvel movies at the movie theater, but you get a lot more value from a Marvel movie. But, like I said, the movie is funny. Is the movie worth watching at the movie theater?
