People sometimes feel more comfortable approaching people/experts who look like them, so, if the indie film biz/scene wants to get more diversity going in its ranks, adding some minority/"non-white" experts to the panel discussions would probably be a useful thing - as far as increasing participation by minority artists in indie film.
